The supernatural rest of God is a Biblical promise from God to you. In Hebrews 4:1, it tells us, “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.” You have a right to the rest of God. So, why do so many Christians fall short of it? We are told the answer in the next verse: “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it” (Hebrews 4:2).

Over my forty years of preaching, I’ve experienced, time and time again, people, who’d just finished hearing me teach on a particular subject, come to me asking how to handle a situation. I want to tell them, “I just told you!” Those people fail to realize that their lack of faith in God’s Word is causing them not to experience what His Word says. Just as we received the promise of salvation, which is by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8), everything else that God has promised us must be received by using our faith. God did His part, when He gave the promise; your part is to have faith in what He promised in His Word.

The Word of God, without being mixed properly with faith, won’t produce anything. If you put the Word of God on something you were dealing with and it didn’t come out like you needed it to, I can tell you exactly why it didn’t happen. You put the Word on it, but you didn’t stay with the Word long enough to let it build faith in you.

As long as you have a promise from God on something, it must come to pass. This is where supernatural rest comes from — you choosing to trust in God’s Word, no matter what. You will enter into God’s rest when you have faith in His Word.
