Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. – Job 22:21

Your stewardship in life, including your stewardship of money, is not about ownership. You’re a “money manager” for God. That’s the first step. If a person can’t get past this first step, they have bound themselves to succeed only as far as their own wisdom and strength can take them.

When a person fails in the subject of stewardship, the world turns him or her into a material addict, much like a drug addict. In other words, eventually that person gets to a place where they can’t seem to get what they desire, and the things they want are constantly on their mind. They will do almost anything to get those things, so they’ll work, scheme, or connive to get them.

The things that they want seem to constantly elude them — they chase and chase, yet the things that they want are running faster than they are and they never seem to catch them.

On the other hand, when a person understands stewardship and responds to it correctly — in faith and humble obedience — material things will not compel them to go after them. Instead, things will just come to them.

When you respond correctly to God and His Word, you get off the system of “self” and you get on a new system of faith and obedience. You’re no longer working on a modern-day system of money; you’re working on miracle money!

Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. – Job 22:21 (NIV)

Agree with God, and be at peace; in this way good will come to you. – Job 22:21 (NRSV)
