In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

A very important key to moving up the ladder of faith and success in God’s financial plan is to be thankful at every stage and step. I remember during the different increments of increase that my wife and I experienced along our way, we were thankful all the time. We thanked God – and still do thank Him – for everything good in our lives, no matter how small or insignificant it seemed. I shouted and rejoiced like I was a millionaire before I was one!

I’ve noticed over the years that as I give in faith and in obedience to the Lord, more is always given to me. But I’ve also noticed that if I wasn’t as thankful as I should have been for the “more” – for every level of increase that came my way – I caused a spiritual jam in my life, and I became hindered from going to the next level.

When we’re given a measure of something in our lives – including finances – we must rejoice and give God glory for it. Even if it’s not everything we’re dreaming of, we must give God praise! When we fail to acknowledge God gratefully and humbly for every level of increase in our lives, we stop right where we are. We won’t be able to go further and higher until we begin to be thankful for where we are right now.
