Romans 12:1-3 – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

The 12th chapter of the book of Romans is a commentary on how to do 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, where it talks about sanctifying your ‘whole’ man: spirit, soul, and body.  The Apostle Paul was giving the Romans instruction on how to put their human culture into perspective so that they can renew their minds and begin living according to a spiritual culture.

Because we have to live and function in this “society of the fall” we tend to think and behave according to the standard of our earthly culture rather than our heavenly (or spiritual) culture. Our spiritual culture consists of all of the benefits that belong to the citizens of the kingdom of God. As a believer, you are a citizen of God’s kingdom. This is why you have the ability to operate in the supernatural, even in a society that is under a curse.

The Apostle Paul told the Romans to present their bodies as a living sacrifice because he knew that the greatest obstacle to moving in the supernatural is having a mind that is not renewed.  The miracles, signs, and wonders – impossible things being made possible and incurable things becoming curable will not occur in your life if your mind is not renewed to your spiritual culture.

You see, spiritual culture is not living according to religion. It is living according to the sword of the spirit and a revelation of God’s word. Those are the only two things that can change you to the degree where you no longer live by your senses but operate totally and completely in the power of your unchanging God.

It doesn’t matter what the world is doing or saying, your spirit will lead you and overrule everything that doesn’t line up with your spiritual citizenship. Your mind will be renewed back to God’s mind so you can operate like God operates and know how He would handle the situations that you are dealing with. You will be strong on the inside and when you are strong on the inside, what is on the inside will change the outside! Your spiritual culture should determine the outcome of your life, not this world’s culture.
