10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. Praying in tongues is fine tuning your spirit man to be sensitive to the voice of God.
You’ll hear better. If you notice, John said he was in the Spirit. He was trying to emphasize that that is how he knew it was God’s voice. See, many times we think we are in the Spirit, when we are really in emotion. But, if you are praying in the Spirit, you can be sure that you are in the Spirit. Why? Because you are out of self.
Self is an interruption from hearing from God. Your flesh, senses, and surroundings are also interruptions. Rid yourself of all those things while you are praying so that you can hear the voice of God clearly.
You have to pray in tongues and pay attention. Ideas, concepts, and insights flow to your mind and to your spirit as you pray. Things that will cause you to birth things that you could not have gotten any other way. We’ve missed a lot of inventions. If we would pray in the Spirit and pay attention to God, we would run a ring around science.
Through these supernatural ideas, concepts, and insights God is giving you keys for your victory! When people ask you what happened, you’ll only be able to say, “God did it!”
