Luke 11:1 – And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
This scripture clarifies that we can be taught to pray. As a matter of fact, we need to be taught how to pray. Sometimes our “slingshot of prayer” keeps missing the target and we can’t seem to get the right results. Most likely, it is because we do not know how to pray.
For as long as you live, you will always be in the school of prayer. It is an unending, communication with God. If you ever feel like you have arrived in your prayer life, you will start praying patterned prayers. Patterned prayers aren’t fresh and they prevent you from hearing the Spirit of God when He speaks. A key to effective prayer is always being open to the Spirit.
Some things will have to be undone in your prayer life. You may have been praying the same way for many years because you thought it was God’s ways of doing things. You must be willing to grow in your prayer life. Growth comes when you are willing to change. I’ll change in a moment if I see something that the Lord wants me to change. Don’t get stuck in your prayer life. Be willing to change.
Today your prayer should be: “Lord, teach me to pray.”
