John 4:23 – But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
As one of the key scriptures for true worship, today, I want to focus on why you must “worship the Father in spirit” and not in your soul.
Your soul can’t worship God. In fact, real worship will get you out of your soul.
There are five parts to your soul: emotions, reasoning/intellect, memory, imagination, and will. All of these things must be in line with God’s will in order for you to worship properly.
Sometimes we try to worship God emotionally. We have to feel something in order for us to feel like we are really worshipping God. There are some feelings involved but they should not be the forerunner, they should be the aftermath of you truly getting into the presence of God.
Your reasoning and intellect cannot come into the presence of God because they will be constantly trying to figure God out. You cannot figure God out, He is too big! You want Him to follow this A, B, C plan but God will mess you up because sometimes He’ll start at Z.
Your memories are not the avenue to worshipping God either. They are supposed to remind you of what God has already done for you and who God is. But, they will not take you into the presence of God because they are in your soul.
Your imagination could never measure up to God’s imagination. It cannot help you approach God because only God’s imagination can approach God. You think you are in the Spirit but you are still in your soul.
The last part of your soul, the will, is controlled by the other four parts. If your emotions are not right, then your will won’t be right. Same goes for all of the other parts of your soul.
You must renew your mind with the word of God. Then, take the Sword of the Spirit (which is the Word of God) and conquer: your emotions, your intellect/reasoning, your memory, your imagination, and your will. When you do, God’s will will become your will and your will becomes God’s will.
When this happens, you experience that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God found in the “b” part of Romans 12:2. Now, the presence of God will be ushered in freely, by a man/woman walking in God’s will. Your renewed mind will not stop/block the Spirit because it has submitted to the Spirit.

Amen Apostle, I Accept That All Five Parts Of My Soul Must Be In Line With God’s Will For Me To Worship Properly. Then I Will Experience The Good And Acceptable Will of God. I Accept The My Renewed Mind Will Not Block The Spirit; Because It Has Submitted To the Spirit.
