Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.”  John 15:2-3 (KJV)

As you can see in our text for today, the fruit of the Spirit has a cleansing effect to it. Take a moment to allow the Holy Spirit to position and prepare your spirit for the full acceptance of this cleansing concept. For complete, mature growth to occur in your life, you have to be cleaned up; you MUST be willing to submit to the cleansing process. The process begins by you first recognizing that you cannot do it by yourself; you cannot bear fruit alone. It’s the Holy Spirit that has to do it. Next, you are cleansed through the Word as it is conveyed above in John 15 – both cleaned and made pure! The cleaner and more pure you are; the closer you will be to God. It is not you working on yourself; it is Jesus working in you. Not any of us are sanctified by ourselves. The Lord will show us exactly how to do it by permitting these fruit to grace our lives so that, for lack of better words, we shall know we are different.

The church has to know she is different and that this difference comes from yielded submission to the fruit cleansing process. From love comes the joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, meekness, temperance, faith and goodness of God. God intended for the fruit to put you into a specific, set apart character – the character of Christ. The character of Christ will become vivid in your life at all times. You will resonant the same characteristics that Jesus carried. These characteristics will build, construct, and mold you into a mighty conqueror, a compelling commander. The person that is open and willing to allow God to purge him/her in order to bring forth more fruit will be the one to take the Word of God and make commands on life that must obey them!
