“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds); Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV)

In reading our scriptural text for today, verse 4 was placed there just for explanatory purposes; you are really supposed to just go directly from reading and gleaning the third verse to the fifth verse.

The word carnal is important because a carnal Christian is in crazy trouble. When you are carnal and you have not learned the rights you possess; then you say you are a Christian and yet, you have no idea on how to handle the fiery thoughts and other distraction tactics the enemy shoots at you- you place yourself straight in the midst of major trouble!

Strongholds are thoughts that are built-up in your mind to the point they become strong truths to you and your perception. Strongholds will hold you in sickness, in lack, in contrariness against somebody to where you do not want to forgive them. This is why verse 5 is extremely important and vital to our Christian walk, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”.

Imaginations come through thoughts; they are not true! Anything that “…exalteth itself against the knowledge of God” cannot be truth; God’s knowledge and wisdom are the only true forms of truth that have or will ever exist! Notice in our text above that both strongholds and imaginations are plural. The enemy is very consistent and persistent at doing his job of trying to compound thought attacks into your mind.

I compel you to stand strong with supernatural boldness and full confidence! Know that you have the divine right and authority in Jesus name, by the power of His Word and Spirit, to pull down those thoughts and bring them into captivity. The enemy can’t stop you! He’s not strong enough to stop you; that’s why the Bible says in 1 John 4:4, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than He that is in the world!”
