“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”
2 Corinthians 10:5-6 (KJV)
Let me ask you a question: Have you ever suffered thought attacks? Let me go a step further: Have you ever had a thought attack, became very concerned over it, and later found out there really was not any form of truth to it at all? I will be the first to admit I have – we all have! The lesson to learn from that is – You cannot allow thought attacks to linger in your mind for any length of time; the longer they stay the more they are building those lies to become truth to you. Remember: your thoughts are the main points of attack for the enemy; he will definitely use your thoughts to his greatest ability if you allow him.
2 Corinthians 4:4 says, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them”. Satan is the god of all carnal thoughts. In other words, anyone who welcomes carnal thoughts- he will become their god and he will have full reign to rule them through their thoughts. Satan can get an unbeliever to do anything through their thoughts – and that is the way it is supposed to be. However, as a Christian, you do not live in the realm of carnality. The only way to get into that realm is by you placing yourself into the “game of carnal-mindedness”; this occurs when you let your flesh rule more than your spirit.
Therefore, it is important to recognize when Biblical text is referring to you and when it is not. 2 Corinthians 4:4 is talking about this world’s system. Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof and the world and they that dwell in it”. Yes, this world belongs to God; yet, there is a world system that satan has, is god over it, and runs it by thoughts of trickery. That system of lies shall never affect you- you are a mirror image of God for which the light of Christ is continually shining through and upon you which includes your mind and thoughts!
